Douglas Dean Hauxwell, age 69, passed away Sunday, August 30, 2015 at his home in rural McCook.
Doug was born October 9, 1945 to Jay Christopher and Mildred A. (Stewart) Hauxwell in McCook. He graduated from McCook High School in 1963 and he was an active member of the FFA.
Doug was in the National Guard from 1965 to 1971.
He married Carol Marie Ruggles on June 14, 1969 in McCook.
He was a member of McCook Christian Church.
Doug was a farmer/trucker all of his life. He liked working with his cattle and land, he liked to see things grow. He loved to garden and share his produce with friends. But most of all he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.
Survivors include his son, Bryan Hauxwell and wife, Ami of McCook; sister, Janet Heimer and husband, Dale of McCook; brothers, Rich Hauxwell and wife, Jeannie of McCook, Ron Hauxwell and wife, Bonnie of Springfield, MO, Neal Hauxwell and wife, Margie of McCook; and three grandchildren, Brendon, Kathlyn and Braceton; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jay and Mildred; daughter, Kathy; and brother, Wayne Hauxwell.
To honor Doug's life and memory, the family requests that you do something kind and generous for someone today.
Memorial services will be 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 2, 2015 at McCook Christian Church with Pastors Clark Bates and Dale Heimer officiating. Inurnment will be in the Indianola Cemetery.
Memorials may be given in his name to the McCook FFA Chapter or the Red Willow County 4H program.
