Kenneth W. Ellis, MD, McCook, NE age 72, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, December 4, 2009.
Kenneth was born in Cambridge, Nebraska on May 21, 1937, the son of Orville and Pearl (Roberts) Ellis.
Kenneth was a pioneer orthopedic surgeon in Kearney for 26 ½ years and established the Kearney Orthopedic and Fracture Clinic in 1973. In 1995 he joined Dr. Richard Slovek in McCook and practiced medicine another 13 years. From February through September 2009 he was employed by Womack Army Medical Center, Fort Bragg, Fayetteville, North Carolina.
He was preceded in death by his mother, father, and brother, Dale.
Surviving are his wife of 50 years, Carolyn (Lorance); children: Bradley (Kelly), Brenda (Dick) Nelson, and Jeffrey (Sonya); grandchildren: Philip and Eva; brother, Paul; and various cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Memorial services were on Tuesday, December 8, 2009, 11:00 a.m. at the Evangelical Free Church with Pastor Bruce Lester officiating with inurnment in the Kearney Cemetery.
Carpenter Breland Funeral Home of McCook was in charge of the arrangements.
