Duane Herman Leibbrandt, age 68 passed away Friday, April 1, 2016 at Community Hospital of McCook.
Duane was born December 8, 1947 to Herman and Mildred (Cottingham) Leibbrandt in McCook, NE. He graduated from McCook High School in 1966 then attended Curtis Technical College for two years. Later on he would attend McCook Community College for several years.
On June 2, 1972 he married Pamela Hays in Cambridge, NE. The couple made their home North West of McCook, where Duane farmed and ranched.
Duane was very involved with 4-H and Farm Bureau. He taught Sunday school and was a member of the choir at Peace Lutheran Church. Duane liked to play the piano and organ in his free time. Spending time on the computer was also a hobby of his. He enjoyed working with his cattle and his dogs were like family to him. Duane could fix almost anything he put his hands on. Even though Pam and Duane could have no children of their own they became great foster parents to many children. Duane adored his loving wife, Pam, and told her he loved her every day.
Survivors include his wife Pam of the home; Mother-in-law, Alice Hays of Gothenburg, NE; Two sister-in-laws, Colleen (Ted) Bode of Omaha, NE and Cynthia Peklo of Gothenburg, NE; also surviving him are several nieces, nephews, and extended family.
He was preceded in death by his parents and father-in-law, George Hays.
Visitation will be Monday, April 4, 2016 from 1-8:00 p.m. at Carpenter Breland Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, April 5, 2016 at Peace Lutheran Church with Pastor Tom Albertson officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.
Memorials may be given in his name.
