Earl A. Roberts, passed away on Thursday, December 10, 2015 at his home in McCook.
Earl was born on February 16, 1923 to Alvin and Esther Roberts in Hyannis, Arthur County, Nebraska. They later moved to St. Paul Nebraska where he attended and graduated High School.
He was then drafted into the Army in 1942 and in WWII and was stationed in India, Burma, China and was part of making of the Burma Road. When he was honorably discharged from the service in 1944.
He married Marian Lucy Buhrman on November 6th 1946 at St. Libory Catholic Church and to this union eleven children were born. Earl and Marian lived their new married life in the St. Libory, NE area and then moved in 1956 to Denver, Colorado until 1994 when they returned to Nebraska to live in McCook.
Earl enjoyed camping and fishing as much as possible. In between that time he was big into gardening and raising as many tomatoes and canning as much as possible. After this he would spend his fall season watching his favorite football teams, Nebraska Cornhuskers and the Denver Broncos.
He was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Marian of 68 years; two sons, Anthony and Dennis Roberts; his parents, two sisters, Helen Anderson and Eloise Leubbe; two brothers, Robert and William Roberts; and one son-in-law, William George.
Survivors include nine children, Sandra George of Lincoln, NE, Linda Fisher of Sterling, CO, Peggy (Ron) Niebur, Earl (Cindy) Roberts of McCook, NE, David (Mary Ann) Roberts of Littleton, CO, Nancy (David) Low, Diane Cubbon, Duane (Connie) Roberts all of Lakewood, CO, and Debbie (Ed) Douglas of McCook, NE; one sister, Joan Roberts of Portland, OR; 32 grandchildren; 53 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Visitation will be Sunday, December 13, 2015 at Carpenter Breland Funeral Home from 4:00 until the time of the Rosary at 7:00 p.m.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. on Monday, December 14, 2015 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church with Fathers Gary Brethour and Thomas Schultes officiating. Burial with Military Honors will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
Memorials may be given in his name to St. Patrick’s Catholic Church or Community Healthcare and Hospice.
