Edward Albert Bailey of Trenton died Friday, February 26, 2010, at Community Hospital in McCook. He was 81 years old.

Ed was born on April 3, 1928, at Maringo, Nebraska in Hayes County to Ervin N. and Millie F. (Bussard) Bailey. He attended rural country school.

On July 27, 1951, he entered the US Army and served during the Korean War. He was honorably discharged on July 16, 1953. After his service time, Ed worked with construction traveling wherever his work took him.

In 1954, he was united in marriage to Mona Smith. To this union two daughters were born. He was later married to Alberta Louise Cooper on December 7, 1966, in Denver, Colorado. They eventually made their home in McCook after Ed's retirement.

Among his favorite pastimes were fishing, raising a large garden every year and an active member of a Rod and Gun Club.

Preceding him in death were his parents, Ervin and Millie Bailey; his wife, Alberta on March 1, 1998; two sisters, Fern at birth and Jeraldean Mowry and husband Ordmond; brothers, Edgar at birth and Marlon at age six months.

Survivors include his daughters, Elaine Kriger and Cheryl Harris; two brothers, Dale Bailey and wife, Beverly, of Trenton and Melvin Bailey and wife, Donna, of Arapahoe; four sisters, Shirley and husband, Byron Peters, of McCook, Annabelle Ebert of McCook, Lola and husband, Roland Wilke, of Culbertson and Twila and husband, Roger Olson, of Grand Island; four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorials were to be given in his name.

Memorial services were Wednesday, March 3, 2010, 10:00 a.m. at Carpenter Breland Funeral Home with Jerry Beckenhauer officiating. Inurnment took place at Fort McPherson Cemetery, Maxwell, Nebraska.

Carpenter Breland Funeral Home of McCook was in charge of the arrangements.
