Elda M. Walker

Elda M. Walker, 80, died Wednesday, (August 11, 2004) at Community Hospital in McCook.
She was born in Frontier County on December 9, 1923 to Alfred C. and Effie Marie (Blake) Cheney. She graduated from Indianola High School.
She married Benjamin F. Walker in Denver on July 1, 1946. She had lived in McCook since 1943 and had worked as a pharmacy clerk.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband on April 13, 1999 and one brother, Bernard.
Survivors include: two sons, Ben Walker of Lincoln and Larry Walker and wife Kathy of Gering; three brothers, Merald Cheney and wife Dot of Lincoln, Don Cheney and wife Maxine of Bennett and Bob Cheney and wife Melba of Lincoln; a sister, Lois Hamilton of McCook; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at Carpenter Breland Funeral Home with Pastor Clark Bates officiating. Burial will be Monday, 10:00 a.m. at Fort McPherson National Cemetery at Maxwell.
Memorials are being accepted in her name.
