Eldred Ruth Cobb, age 80, entered the presence of her Heavenly Father on December 16, 2010, while residing at Hillcrest Nursing Home in McCook
Eldred was born on July 19, 1930 to Ralph and Nellie (Nuding) Carpenter in the Township of Eden, in Hitchcock County, NE. She graduated from Stratton High School in 1947.
On December 21, 1947, she married Bob B. Cobb in Oskaloosa, Iowa. They made their home in Stratton where Eldred was a busy mother and homemaker. She also worked as a lab and x-ray technician at the Stratton Clinic.
She very much loved and was dedicated to her late husband, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Among her many hobbies, she greatly enjoyed cooking, knitting, sewing, and tole painting. She and her late husband enjoyed their craft shop that they named "The Cobbler Shoppe". She made a variety of crafts and especially enjoyed designing sweatshirts, all of which she sold at craft fairs. She loved music and played the piano.
Eldred was a member of the Christian Union Church in Stratton, where she attended until she became a resident of McCook.
Preceding her in death were her husband Bob Cobb on September 24, 2000; her parents, Ralph and Nellie Carpenter; and two sisters, Gwen Egle and Arlene Orr.
Survivors include her sons, Norman Cobb and wife, Glenna, of York, Dallas Cobb and wife, Diane, of McCook, and Wesley Cobb and wife, Dixie, of Lincoln; one daughter, Lorie and husband, Dick Golding, of South Fork, CO; one brother, Doyle Carpenter of Fort Wayne, IN; eight grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be given in her name to the Gideons International (McCook Gideons PO Box, 792, McCook, NE 69001).
Friends may sign her book at the funeral home during business hours. There will be no public visitation.
Funeral services will be Saturday, December 18th at 11:00 am at the Evangelical Free Church in McCook with Pastor Bruce Lester officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery at Stratton.
