Elsie E. Sullivan

Elsie E. Sullivan passed away Tuesday, July 19, 2016 at her home at Brookdale McCook.

She was born August 2, 1919 at Indianola, Nebraska to Henry J. and Mabel (Williams) Weskamp.  She lived on a farm near Danbury and attended school there graduating in 1937.  After graduation from Danbury High School she went to Denver, Colorado where she attended the Barnes Business College on a scholarship.

On June 21, 1941 she married Ben C. Young at the Holy Ghost Church in Denver, They lived in Denver for several years and moved to Los Angeles, California in 1945 where she was employed as a secretary for an insurance company for 20 years.

Ben passed away January 24, 1973, and on June 7, 1975 Elsie married Lawrence H. Sullivan in McCook.  She was a member of St. Patrick’s Church, and Altar Society, and auxiliary member of the Legion of Mary and the Eagles Club, and attended the Water Therapy Class at the YMCA for 24 years.  She loved music, dancing and card games.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Mabel Weskamp; husbands, Ben C. Young and Lawrence H. Sullivan; two sisters, Vernice Weskamp and Dorothy K. Graff; one brother, Elmer J. Weskamp.  Survivors are many nieces and nephews, whom she adored.

Visitation will be Sunday, July 24, 2016 from 2:00 – 6:00 p.m. at Carpenter Breland Funeral Home with Rosary to follow at 7:00 p.m.

Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday, July 25, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church with Father Gary Brethour as Celebrant.   Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.

Memorials may be given in her name.

Carpenter Breland Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
