Biography

Elva Louise "Boots" Adams of McCook, died Monday, July 5, 2010, at Great Plains Medical Center in North Platte. She was 90 years old.

Boots was born on February 1, 1920, at Arlington, South Dakota to Ernest James and Mabel Flossie (Flanders) Coy. She graduated from Arlington High School.

On June 10, 1953, she was united in marriage to Leroy Edwin Adams in Sterling, Colorado. Together, they drove truck all of the United States. She also was head cook for Larry's Café© for seven years.

Boots was a member of the McCook Eagles. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, embroidery work, crocheting. She also enjoyed being in the kitchen cooking and baking.

Preceding her in death were her parents, Ernest and Mabel Coy; husband, Leroy Adams on January 10, 2000; two son-in-laws, Herb Johnson and Hyman Self; brothers, Arthur, Howard, Alvin, Clair, Clarence, Delbert and Harold Coy; sisters, Ellen Stenberg, Esther Garrison and half-sister, Leona Jeanblanc.

Survivors include her daughters, Sandra Johnson of Hemphill, TX and Jeanne Self of Leesville, LA; one brother, Dwayne Coy and wife, Sheila, of Birmingham, AL and half-brother, Lavern "Chuck" Coy of Oklahoma City, OK; nephew, Philip (Jani) Little and family; niece, LaVella (Bob) Farr of Cambridge; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and her beloved pets, dachshunds Orphan Annie and Kemo-Sabe "Kemo".

Memorials were to be given in her name.

Memorial services were Friday, July 9, 2010, 10:00 a.m., at Carpenter Breland Chapel with Terry McCorkle officiating. Inurnment took place in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Carpenter Breland Funeral Home of McCook was in charge of the arrangements.
