Biography

Emma Marie Walker, 96, died Monday, September 6, 2004 at Hillcrest Nursing Home in McCook.

Emma was born October 15, 1907 to Henry and Anna (Volerth) Pollmann at Culbertson. She attended rural school near Culbertson.

On January 12, 1929 she married Martin Walker in McCook. They lived and farmed in the Prairie Union Community from 1929-1956 at which time they moved to their farm home north of Beverly and lived there until 1982. When Martin died in 1982 she moved to Palisade. She became a resident of the Hidden Pines Assisted Living in McCook in 2000 and for the last two years was a resident of Hillcrest Nursing Home.

She was a member of the Palisade United Methodist Church, the United Methodist Women, Friendly Neighbor Club, Beverly Ladies Aide and the Order of the Eastern Star.

Preceding her in death were her husband, Martin; four brothers, Earl, Walter, John and Henry; and two sisters, Anna and Minnie.

Survivors include: a son, Richard Walker and wife Doris of Golden, CO.; a daughter, Barbara Cumpston and husband Donald of Weeping Water; three sisters, Christina Relph, Hanna Hine and Louise Coburn all of McCook; five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be given to the Palisade United Methodist Church and the Masonic Eastern Star Home for Children at Fremont.

Funeral services will be Friday 10 a.m. at the Palisade United Methodist Church with Pastor Judy Dye officiating. Burial will be in the Palisade Cemetery.

Visitation will be at the Carpenter Breland Funeral Home Wednesday 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. and Thursday 9 a.m. - 8 p.m.
