Emory Putz

Emory Putz died Thursday, October 30, 2008 at his home in McCook. He was 77 years old.
Emory was born on July 12, 1931, in Hastings to Emory Walter and Bessie Glenda (Henderson) Putz, Sr. He graduated from Blue Hill High School in 1948.
He was united in marriage to Lucille M. Leetsch at Denver, CO on July 12, 1951. To this union five children were born. They moved to the McCook community in 1962 where Emory sold life insurance for 46 years until his retirement.
He loved to hunt, fish and golf with his many friends. He was an avid sports fan earning the "Travel Award" to sports events after his children were out of school. His most enjoyment came from spending time with his beloved wife, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Emory and Bessie Putz; his wife of 57 years, Lucille Putz on August 2, 2008; and one sister, Betty Pilkington.
Survivors include his children, Jim Putz and wife, Wanda Jo, of Crete, Carol and husband, Basil Burge, of Lafe, AR, Rob Putz and wife, Cherri, of McCook, Patricia and husband, David G. Unger, of McCook and Diane and husband, Joe Wieser, of McCook; two sisters-in-law, LaVon Montey of Ft. Collins, CO and Dorothy Mills of Omaha; 17 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Memorials were to be given in his name.
Cremation followed the visitation.
Memorial services were Tuesday, November 4, 2008, 2:00 p.m. at the Corner Stone Fellowship Church in McCook with Rob Putz and the Rev. Dr. Jeff Thurman officiating. Burial followed at the Palisade Cemetery at 3:30 p.m.
Carpenter Breland Funeral Home of McCook was in charge of the arrangements.
