Evelyn Ploussard

Evelyn Effie Ploussard died Monday, November 20, 2006. She was 94.

Evelyn was born in Red Willow County on January 25, 1912 to William and Lizzie (Mumby) Witt. She was the youngest of ten children. She attended country school through the eighth grade.

On the evening of August 12, 1933 she married Frank J. Ploussard at a judge's house in Oberlin. She and her husband lived on the same farm that she was born until 1952, when they moved to McCook. In 1953, they moved to their farm in Decatur County, Kansas. He retired due to health, and they moved back to McCook in December 1964. She resided in their home on East 4th until the fall of 1995 when she moved into Highland Park and then later into Hillcrest.

She was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church since 1947. She had several hobbies, including crocheting and embroidering, she also enjoyed her cats and baking cookies.

She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Lizzie; husband, Frank (January 28, 1981); five brothers, Fred, Frank, Bert, Milton, and Clarence; three sisters, Ethyl Woods, Florence Wade, and Lulu Huntley.

Survivors include over 50 nieces and nephews and a host of friends.

Memorials may be given in her name to St. Patrick's Catholic Church or Highland Park.

Rosary will be Friday, November 24, 2006 at 7:00 p.m. at Carpenter Breland Funeral Home.

Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, November 25, 2006 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Patrick's Catholic Church with Father Gary Brethour as Celebrant. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery.

Visitation will be Wednesday from 1:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. and Friday 9:00 a.m. until the time of the rosary.
