Faye Marie Lashley

Faye Marie Lashley, age 99, of Curtis, NE passed away Saturday, August 10, 2013 at the Community Hospital in McCook, NE.

Faye was born to parents William H and Annie Margaret (Urling) Ryan on June 18, 1914 near Havana, NE on the family farm in Frontier County.

Faye attended school at Pleasant View District 36 and Havana High School in Frontier County. On October 22, 1932, Faye was united in marriage to Arthur L. Lashley in Oberlin, Kansas, they lived on a farm in the Quick Community north of McCook. To this union two sons were born Arthur L. Lashley Jr. and James W. Lashley.

Faye wrote a social column for the Indianola Newspaper in the 1920’s. She was also a 4H Club Leader for the Quick Farmers and Farmerettes 4H Club and a member of the Historical Society.

Faye and her family toured 31 states; she fished in the Pacific Ocean and gathered sea shells on the beaches of the Atlantic Ocean.

Faye was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Arthur in 1970, brother George and wife Klonnie Ryan of Commerce City, CO; sister Maida and husband Earl Nichols of Bloomsburg, PA; sister Margaret and husband Preston Stevens of Cambridge, NE.

Faye is survived by her two sons, Arthur L. Lashley, Jr. and wife Carol of McCook and James W. Lashley of Curtis, NE; and grandchildren Ann and husband Matthew Brown and their children Randy, Angela, and Ryan of McCook,NE; Michael and wife Shelly Fritz and their children Zack, Trevor, and Katy of Cambridge, NE; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, August 14, 2013 from 1 to 8 p.m. at the Carpenter-Breland Funeral Home in McCook, NE.

Funeral Services will be held Thursday, August 15, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. at the Carpenter-Breland Funeral Home with Jerry Beckenhauer, officiating. Burial will follow in the Garden Prairie Cemetery North of McCook.

Memorials are suggested to the Maywood Volunteer Fire Department, Curtis Volunteer Fire Department, Garden Prairie Cemetery or the Garden Prairie Methodist Church.
