Florence Rita Fuchuck

Florence “Flo” Rita Fuchuck, age 87, of McCook, NE was called home by her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Sunday, May 22, 2022 at her home in McCook.

Flo was born June 20, 1934 in East Boston, MA to parents Armando and Carmelinda (Intonti) Rossi.  She was the third oldest of four daughters who grew up in Boston, graduating from East Boston High School with the Class of 1952.

Growing up in Boston, Flo often traveled to Everett, MA to go dancing and eventually met the love of her life, Sylvester “Sy” Fuchuck.  Flo and Sy were married on June 4, 1955 in East Boston. To this union, four children were born.  The family moved numerous times over the years for Sy’s work, living in nine different states before settling in McCook in 1995.  Flo lived a full life and loved seeing the country. She worked as a loving housewife and mother to their children and shared fifty three years with her husband before his passing.

Flo was an active member on the Seventh Day Adventist Church in McCook. Flo was a loving mother, grandmother and loyal friend, always ready with a kind word or funny saying. As Flo would say, “It is what it is”.  She never met a stranger. Even though Flo lived in many states over the years, she called Nebraska her home.  Flo’s love for people was unmatched and she quickly made an impact on all those she met in the McCook community.  Perhaps Flo’s greatest qualities were her sense of humor, love for Christ and others.

Flo was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Sy Fuchuck; great grandson, Beckett; and her two sisters, Antonita and Gloria.

Those left to celebrate her life include her children, Linda Hansing of McCook, Karen Arp of Culbertson, NE, Bill (Mary) Fuchuck of McCook and Jim (Jill) Fuchuck of Salt Lake City, UT; sister, Frances Intonti of Revere, MA; ten grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren, and one due in August, and a number of extended family members.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105, Tunnel to Towers Foundation, 2361 Hylan Boulevard, Staten Island, NY 10306 or Community Hospital Health and Hospice, 1301 East H Street, McCook, NE 69001.

Visitation with family present to greet friends will be held from 5 to 7pm on Friday, May 27, 2022 at Carpenter Breland Funeral Home, McCook.

A funeral service will be held at 10am on Saturday, May 28, 2022 at Carpenter Breland Funeral Home with Pastor Mike Roth, officiating.

Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery, McCook.
