Florence L. Jeffers, died Monday, August 21, 2006, at Chase County Hospital in Imperial. She was 85.

Florence was born in Hayes County on August 26, 1920 to Frank and Agnes (Schneider) Broz. She graduated from St. Patrick’s Academy in Sidney in 1938 and Kearney State College in 1972.

She married Charles Bailey Jeffers at Hayes Center on February 17, 1942. To this union six children were born.

She was a member of the Holy Family Catholic Church of Palisade, a lifetime member of the Altar Society, and she enjoyed reading and crocheting.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Agnes; husband, Charles (April 6, 1999); and brother Walter Broz.

Survivors include her son Larry Jeffers of Wauneta; daughters, Janet Rucker and husband, Jerry of Arvada, Colorado, Rita Steinke and husband, Don of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Kathy Knepp of Auburn, Patty Laird and husband Scott of Hayes Center, Margaret Schuman and husband Neil of Littleton, Colorado; brothers, Vincent Broz and wife Marg, Fran Broz all of McCook, LaVerne Broz and wife Carol of Conroe, Texas; sister Theresa Steiner of Wheatridge, Colorado; 17 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.

Memorials were to be given in her name.

Rosary was Wednesday, August 23, 2006 at 7:30 p.m.CDT at Carpenter Breland Funeral Home.

Mass of Christian Burial took place Thursday, August 24, at 10:00 a.m.CDT at St. James Catholic Church of Trenton, with Father Valerian Bartek as Celebrant.

Burial followed at the Palisade Cemetery.

Carpenter Breland Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
