Florence Lenor Kring passed away peacefully Friday, February 12, 2016 at Hillcrest Nursing Home in McCook NE. She was 89 years old.
Florence was born in Clark, NE on October 9, 1926, to Charles Linord Johnson and Doris Rose (Britton) Johnson. She graduated from Clarks High School in 1943, and taught two years in rural schools in Merrick County. She attended Kearney State College and received her teaching certificate. She then taught school in Lexington city schools. Florence obtained her teaching degree from Kearney State College in 1967 and taught in several rural schools in Dawson and Custer County.
She married Glenn Allen Kring on June 22, 1947. To this union, six children were born: Ivan, Roger (deceased), Twila, Richard, Cheri, and Nancy.
After marriage, Florence lived on farms near Lexington, Callaway and Eddyville and moved back to rural Lexington in 1980, to her daughter’s in Hastings in 2010 and her son’s in McCook in 2012.
Florence was involved in genealogy, often looking up records in Dawson County for other people. She was also involved in quilting and Garden Clubs in Lexington. She was a volunteer at the Lexington School and a donation center in Lexington. Florence was an active member in the Eddyville and then Lexington Methodist Churches. While living in Eddyville, she was a member of the Kitchen Band, and active in 4-H with her three daughters. She enjoyed her gardening, her swimming group, playing cards, Scrabble, reading and playing the piano. After retirement Florence and Glenn traveled throughout the United State, Canada, and Mexico.
Survivors include her children: Ivan (Doneta) of Malcolm, NE, Twila (Harvy) Rakestrow of Gilbert, AZ, Richard (Maddelyn McKain) of McCook, NE, Cheri Else of Mead, NE, Nancy Kauk of Hastings, NE, sister LaRhue Beck of Clarks, NE, 16 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Glenn, brother Richard Johnson, infant son Roger Ray Kring and one great-granddaughter Ava Grace Else.
Memorial services will be Saturday, March 12, 2016 at 11:00 AM at the First United Methodist Church in Lexington NE with the Rev. Dr. Dyton Owen officiating. Private inurnment will be in Greenwood Cemetery in Lexington NE.

Carpenter Breland Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
