Floyd "Peewee" L. Watson

Floyd L. “Peewee” Watson died Wednesday, June 28, 2006 at Community Hospital in McCook. He was 90 years old.

Peewee was born on June 15, 1916, at Hamlet, to Lewis Thomas and Clara Marie (Uhren) Watson.

He married Della E. Rowland. She preceded him in death on January 16, 1978.

On August 28, 1942, he joined the US Army. He served in the Pacific Theater as a Supply Technician during World War II. He was honorably discharged on February 16, 1946 receiving the American Service Medal, Asiatic Pacific Service Medal, World War II Victory Medal and Good Conduct Medal.

He returned to the McCook community where he was a heavy equipment operator, mechanic, and truck driver for the US Highway Department. He was a member of the Veteran’s of Foreign War and the McCook Eagle’s Club. He enjoyed fishing and big band dancing.

Preceding him in death were his parents, Lewis and Clara Watson; his wife, Della; two brothers, Lloyd and Harold Watson; one sister, Christina Watson; and one niece, Regina Watson.

Survivors include his nieces and nephews, Richard and Karen Watson and Donald and Claudia Watson of Lakewood, CO, LaVina and Larry Hawkins of Denver, CO, John and Barbara Watson of Northglenn, CO, Mary and Bob Wells of Broomfield, CO and Elaine Henry of Casper, WY.

Memorials may be given in his name to the McCook Eagle’s Club, McCook VFW, or Hillcrest Nursing Home.

Visitation will be today until 5:00 p.m., Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until noon, and Sunday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Friends may send condolences to www.carpenterbreland.com

Funeral services will be Monday, July 3, 2006, 11:00 a.m. at Carpenter Breland Chapel with Pastor John A. Albrecht officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery with military honor guard.
