Frances E. Waddell, 82, died Tuesday, January 31, 2006 at Hillcrest Nursing Home.
She was born to Margaret (Lang) and Francis B. Foley in Frontier County on May 14, 1923. She attended rural schools and graduated from Havana High School. She attended McCook Junior College, Kearney State College, and Denver University.
She married James S. Waddell in Indianola, on June 4, 1947. To this union three children were born. She taught school in this area for 13 years.
She was a member of the St. Catherine’s Altar Society and held an office for many years. She was also a member of the Red Willow Extension Club, Indianola Federated Ladies Club, 4-H leader, China Painter’s Club, Good Sam’s Club and the Family Frolic Square Dance Club.
Preceding her in death were her parents, Margaret and Francis; one sister, Marge Thornton; and son-in-law, Kent Guthrie.
Survivors include husband, James; two sons, James and wife Karen Waddell of Indianola, Robert and wife Lisa Waddell of Omaha; one daughter, Jeralyn ”Jeri” Guthrie of Arvada, Colo; five grandchildren, Erik and Kendra Guthrie, and Veronica, Dakota and Samuel Waddell; and two great grandchildren, Kyra and Lucas Guthrie. She and Jim took care of and provided a home for several years for niece Theresa Shiers of McCook and nephew, David Smuskiewicz of Kearney.
Memorials can be given in her name.
Funeral services will be Saturday, February 4, 2006, 10:00 a.m. at St. Catherine’s Catholic Church with Father Paul Witt as Celebrant. Burial will be in St. Catherine’s Cemetery. Rosary will be Friday, February 3, 2006, at Carpenter Breland Chapel at 7:00 p.m.
Visitation will be Thursday 9 a.m.-8 p.m. and Friday from 9 a.m. until 6 p.m.
