Frary Lou Rippen

Frary Lou (Likens) Rippen, of Culbertson, NE passed away November 24, 2012 at Community Hospital in McCook. She was 90 years old.

Frary was born on February 12, 1922 at Atlanta, NE to Charles and Harriet (Skewes) Likens. She graduated from Atlanta, NE in 1939, and then went on to graduate from Kearney Teachers College. She taught 2 years at District 25 north of Holdrege, 2 years at Stamford, and taught 4th Grade at Culbertson from 1944 -1950.

On August 22, 1949 she married Gordon Rippen at Kearney, NE. To this union one son was born - Phyl Gordon.

Frary especially loved to be with her family, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a kind, caring, gentle and loving woman who had a heart of gold.

She was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women where she held several offices in the past 50 years. Her hobbies included; raising beautiful flowers, gardening, crafts and baking. Her favorite time spent was attending the annual neighborhood Fourth of July Celebrations, going to Rodeos with neighbors and family, and traveling with friends and family on numerous vacations.

Preceding her death were her parents, Charles and Harriet Likens, husband Gordon Rippen on January 3rd, 2010, and her brother Dean and his wife Berneta Likens.

Frary was survived by her son Phyl and wife Trish Rippen of Culbertson. Three granddaughters, Joni Rippen of Kearney, NE, Tara and husband John Kucera of Central City, NE, Tonia and husband Brent Hazlitt of McCook, NE. Nine great-grandchildren Tyler Lemke, Jaxson, Jazmin, and Jillian Recroft, Shaylin Kucera, Shelbi, Cinamon, Aspen, and Tekoa Hazlitt. Also surviving is a brother-in-law Leland Rippen, of Culbertson, NE, sister-in-law Jackie Rippen of Culbertson, NE, Maxine Poore of Salina, KS and a host of other family members and friends.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, November 27, 2012 from 2 to 8 p.m. at Carpenter-Breland Funeral Home in McCook, NE.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, November 28, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. at the Trinity United Methodist Church in Culbertson with Pastor John Lewis, officiating. Burial will follow in the Culbertson Cemetery.

Memorials may be made in Frary's name.
