Geneva "Jenny" Adrain Rutledge

September 10, 1922 — March 5, 2009

Geneva "Jenny" Adrain Rutledge died Thursday, March 5, 2009 at Hillcrest Nursing Home in McCook. She lost her battle with cancer, but is presently victoriously with her Lord and Savior in Heaven.

She was born September 10, 1922 in Goshen Township, Ohio, the daughter of Benjamin and Mary (Harrington) Delay. She grew up in Ohio and later followed her daughter to Nebraska where she has lived for the past 34 years. She enjoyed bible study, quilting, fishing, baseball, collecting owls, dominoes and doing puzzles. She recently shared that she wanted her new job in Heaven to be in the nursery and to spend most of her time with babies. She also was recently finding her true sense of humor again and was enjoying sharing it with others.

She has been met in Heaven by her parents, Benjamin and Mary Delay; all three of her children, Ernie and Robert Fetty and Kitty Sramek; four sisters, Pauline Cox, Kathryn Calaski, Edna May Burchfield and Betty Coder; one brother, Benjamin Delay Jr.; one great-grandson, Patrick Sheets; and one great-great-grandson, Andrew Sramek.

She is survived by one sister, "Toby" Saft of Ohio, 14 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren and 11 great-great-grandchildren.

Christian Services were at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, March 10, 2009 at the United Methodist Church in Palisade with Pastor Bruce Lester officiating. Burial took place in the Palisade Cemetery.

Memorials were to be given in her name.

Carpenter Breland Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
