Biography
Genevieve Greta Wagner of McCook died Saturday, December 16, 2006 at Hillcrest Nursing Home. She was 92 years old.
Gen was born on July 24, 1914 in Red Willow County, Nebraska to Cecil Louis and Sarah Almeda (Myers) Ike. She graduated from McCook High School in 1931.
On June 7, 1937, she married L. Jake Wagner in Oberlin, Kansas. To this union one daughter, Mary Jo was born. They made their home in McCook where Gen was owner and operator of Gen's Shop, a woman's clothing store. She retired in 1987.
Preceding her in death were her parents, Cecil and Sarah Ike; her husband, L. Jake Wagner on August 28, 1989; grandson, James LeRoy Baumfalk on August 3, 1983; two brothers, Louis Ike (1974) and Jim Ike (1995); three sisters, Leona "Lee" Imel (1992), Betty Day (1984) and Esther Aman (1996).
Survivors include her daughter, Mary Jo Baumfalk of McCook; grandson, Michael Baumfalk of McCook; one sister, Louise and husband, Jerry Krutsinger, of Alliance; her #2 daughter, Cathie (Gochis) Gibson and her family of Elizabethton, TN; and many nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be given in her name.
A funeral services was held on Thursday, December 21, 2006, 10:30 a.m. at St. Alban's Episcopal Church with The Rev. Sam Williams officiating. Burial was in Memorial Park Cemetery.
