George Henry Millard died Tuesday (April 19, 2005) at Willow Ridge Retirement Community. He was 90 years old.
He was born June 5, 1914 at Somerville, New Jersey to Raymond D. and Jennie May (Amerman) Millard. He graduated from high school in Plainfield, NJ.
He served in the U.S. Army during WWII from 1943-1946.
On July 23, 1957 he married Viola S. Stritt who preceded him in death on April 24, 2002.
He lived in Denver Colorado from 1946 -2000 when he moved to McCook.
He was a member of St. Cahterines Catholic Church, the American Legion, Amateur Radio Relay League and Tri-State Amateur Radio Club. His hobbies included being an amateur radio operator, square dancing and bowling.
He was preceded in death by: his wife, Viola; his parents; two brothers, John & Russell.
Survivors include: a sister, Dorothy Vanarsdale of Philadelphia, PA; three brother-in-laws, Francis Broz of McCook, Henry Fossen of Indianola, Frankie Haag of Bartley; three sister-in-laws, Doris Millard of Fairfax, VT, Alyce Mae Stritt and Mary Ann Stritt both of Indianola; special nieces and nephews, Robert Stritt of McCook, Lola Underdown and husband Dave and Lois Christensen all of Aurora; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Rosary took place Friday at 7 p.m at the funeral home in McCook with Father Nicholas Baker officiating. Mass of Christian Burial was Saturday at 1:30 p.m. at the St. Catherines Catholic Church in Indianola. Burial took place in St. Catherines Cemetery.
Memorials were being accepted in his name.
Carpenter Breland Funeral Home of McCook was in charge of the arrangements.
