Biography
Geraldine "Jerry" R.M. Dorwart died Sunday February 8, 2009 at Community Hospital in McCook. She was 84 years old.
On January 20, 1925, Geraldine was born in Bartley to Charles John and Rose Kathryn (Schaffert) Barth.
Geraldine attended grade school in Bartley and high school in Longment, Colo. She moved back to McCook to attend McCook Junior College.
She married Yule G. Dorwart in McCook on July 28, 1946. To this union four sons were born, Charles, Raymond, Barth and Kraig. They lived in various places before moving to McCook in 1965. She moved into the Willow Ridge Retirement Community in 2008.
Jerry worked at the Red Willow Assessors Office and was a bookkeeper at McFees Veterinary Clinic and with Dr. McGrath.
She was a member of Peace Lutheran Church, the Art Guild, several card clubs and enjoyed sewing, watercolor painting, and quilting.
Preceding her in death were: her parents; husband Yule (September 23, 2007); a son, Charles; and a sister, Elaine O'Hare.
Survivors include: sons, Raymond Alan Dorwart and wife Tammy and their son Daniel of Guthrie, Okla., Barth Eugene Dorwart and wife Velvet, and their daughter, Jocelyn and sons, Cole, Cort and Coop of Lusk, Wyo., Kraig Robert Dorwart and wife Gina, and their daughters, Sasha and Siera of Lincoln; a sister Elizabeth Hudkins and husband Jack of Lincoln; a brother-in-law, Lyle O'Hare of Lincoln and Dr. John Dorwart and wife Marilyn of North Platte; nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be given in her memory to the KNGN Radio Station.
Visitation will be Monday until 8 p.m. at the Carpenter Breland Funeral Home in McCook. Condolences may be also be left on line at www.carpenterbreland.com
Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Tuesday at Peace Lutheran Church with Vicar Tom Albertson officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery in McCook.
