Biography

Geraldine Fay "Gerri" Giespert died Sunday, February 12, 2006 at Community Hospital in McCook. She was 86 years old.

Gerri was born on November 6, 1919, at Cambridge to John Edwin and Lenora May (DeWester) Tumbleson. She graduated from Cambridge High School.

On April 24, 1939, she married William P. Bahl in McCook. To this union six sons were born. He preceded her in death on February 9, 1966. She was a cook for several restaurants and was a homemaker. On March 14, 1994, she married Kenneth Giespert at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in McCook.

Gerri was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church and Altar Society, BNSF Veterans Association, VFW Ladies Auxiliary, American Legion Auxiliary and lifetime member of Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary. She dedicated her life to her family.

Preceding her in death were her parents, John and Lenora Tumbleson; her husband, William Bahl; one grandson, Austin Bahl; two brothers; and four sisters.

Survivors include her husband, Kenneth Giespert of McCook; six sons, John Bahl of McCook, Dan Bahl and wife, Jane, of Indianola, Tom Bahl and wife, Midge, of Dallas, TX, Tim Bahl and wife, Laurie, of Gering, Phil Bahl and wife, Pat, of Omaha and Roch Bahl and wife, Vickie, of Lincoln; one step-son, Greg Giespert of Hastings; three step-daughters, Cecilia and husband, Darrell Brown, of McCook, Christina and husband, Bob Marts, of Bartley and Cathleen and husband, Daniel Bell, of Lakewood, CO; daughter-in-law, Linda Bahl of Hays, KS; 15 grandchildren, five step-grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, 3 step-great-grandchildren; and a host of relatives and friends.

Memorials were to be given to St. Patrick's Elementary School.

Rosary was on Tuesday, February 14, 2006, 7:00 p.m. at Carpenter Breland Chapel with Father Brethour officiating.

Mass of Christian Burial took place on Wednesday, February 15, 2006, 10:30 a.m. at St. Patrick's Catholic Church with Father Andrew Kurz officiating. Burial took place in the Calvary Cemetery.

Carpenter Breland Funeral Home of McCook was in charge of the arrangements.
