Glen Edward Jumps died Tuesday, October 6, 2009 at Community Hospital in McCook. He was 82 years old.

Glen was born on October 10, 1926 in Hayes County, Nebraska to Benjamin Harrison and Frieda (Behrendsen) Jumps. He attended school in Hayes Center.

On March 9, 1945, he entered the US Army and served in the Philippines during World War II. He was honorably discharged on December 7, 1946 earning the Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal, Philippine Independence Medal and World War II Victory Medal.

On January 4, 1948, he was united in marriage to Noreen Keith at McCook. To this union a son Daniel was born. They made their home in various locations while Glen worked with construction. They eventually settled in McCook.

Glen loved to hunt and fish, collect knives and garden. He enjoyed telling stories and visiting friends.

Preceding him in death were his parents, Benjamin and Frieda Jumps; one sister, Arlene Chambers; and three brothers, Jack, Robert and Donald Jumps.

Survivors include his wife, Noreen of 61 years; son, Daniel Jumps and wife, Jan, of Centennial, CO; two brothers, Darwin Jumps and Mary of McCook and Benny Jumps and wife, Cheryl, of Bailey, CO; sister, Betty Felker of McCook; two sisters-in-law, Janeice Jumps and Mary Jumps; two grandsons, Samuel Lee Jumps and Joseph Edward Jumps of Centennial; numerous nieces, nephews and a host of friends.

Memorials were to be given in his name.

Funeral services were Friday, October 9, 2009, 2:00 p.m., at Carpenter Breland Funeral Chapel with Jerry Beckenhauer officiating. Burial took place in the Culbertson Cemetery.

Carpenter Breland Funeral of McCook was in charge of the arrangements.
