Gloria Ann Lawson

Gloria Ann Lawson passed from this life on April 26, 2011 in Colby, KS. She was 68.

She was born February 17, 1943 in Des Moines, IA to Floyd and Lavona Bard Nelson.

Gloria grew up in Palisade, NE and graduated from Palisade High School. After graduation she attended Parks School of Business in Denver, CO. Upon completion of her courses, Gloria worked for Martin-Marietta.

June 10, 1962 she was united in marriage to Gerald "Jerry" William Lawson. Three children blessed this union, Ray, Christy and John. Most of the time Gloria was a stay-at-home mom, whose main interest was to see the growth and development of her children.

They moved to Maywood in the fall of 1963.

Gloria worked temporarily as Maywood Village Clerk and at the Maywood Co-op. She was employed at Ace Hardware in North Platte, NE for 20 years.

Gloria was a member of the Maywood United Methodist Church. For many years she served as a Sunday School teacher, Sunday School superintendant and as a member of the United Methodist Women.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

She is survived by her three children: Raymond (Pamela) Lawson of Hampton, NE, Christine (Martin) Gugelman of Colby, KS, John (Shannon) Lawson of Hampton, NE; sister, Karen (Dick) Thurin of Grant, NE; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be made to the United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 87 Maywood, NE 69038 or the Callahan Cancer Center, 601 West Leota St, North Platte, NE 69101.

Funeral services will be Friday, April 29, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at the United Methodist Church, Maywood, NE with Pastor Stan LaRue, officiating. Burial will follow at 3:00 p.m. in the Palisade Cemetery.
