Grace Vesper Mullanix, of McCook, died Thursday, September 28, 2006, at Hillcrest Nursing Home. She was 102 years old.
Grace was born on May 30, 1904, in Frontier County, Nebraska to Claude M. and Laura M. (Gherring) Spaulding. She graduated from Curtis High School in 1923. She taught in rural Frontier County schools for seven years.
On May 19, 1926, she married Neal Mullanix in North Platte. To this union two sons were born. They made their home on a farm in Frontier County where Grace was a homemaker and helped with the farming operation. He preceded her in death in 1984.
She was a 79 year member of the McCook Memorial United Methodist Church. She enjoyed crocheting, gardening, flowers and spending time with her family.
Preceding her in death were her parents, Claude and Laura Spalding; her husband, Neal Mullanix; one granddaughter, Minnie Ann Mullanix; and two great-grandchildren, Amy and Tommy Lightner.
Survivors include her two sons, Donald Mullanix and wife, Donna, of McCook and Gerald Mullanix and wife, Gladys, of Grand Island; four grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorials were to be given in her name to Memorial United Methodist Church Elevator Fund.
Funeral Services were Tuesday, October 3, 2006, at 10:30 a.m. with the Rev. Dr. Jeff Thurman officiating. Burial took place in Memorial Park Cemetery.
Carpenter Breland Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
