Grant LeRoy Callander

Grant LeRoy Callander was born June 16, 1951, the first child of Glenn LeRoy and Dorothy (Patterson) Callander at St. Catherine’s Hospital in McCook.

Grant died on Wednesday, December 24, 2014 at Hillcrest Nursing Home in McCook. He was 63 years old.

He grew up on the ranch in Hayes County, attending Evergreen Country School and later Hayes Center Schools.

He worked on a chicken farm in Arkansas, the oil fields in Oklahoma, New Holland in Grand Island, and the hose plant in McCook until his health would not allow him to work.

He married Teresa McCasaill on March 30, 1980 and they had one son, Waylan Ray.

Grant dealt with failing health for many years.

He was preceded in death by two step-sisters, Paula Shane and Vicky Anderson.

He is survived by his son Waylan Callander and wife, Jessica, and their daughter, Madison, of Weatherford, OK; his father, Glenn Callander and step-mother, Dawn Callander, of Hayes Center; his mother, Dorothy Callander of Hayes Center; brothers, Archie Callander and wife, Sharon, of Newcastle, WY, Fred Callander and wife, Carla, of Bartley and Calvin Callander and wife, Teri, of Hendley; step-brother, Dan Anderson of Hayes Center; step-sister, Ann and husband, Brad Kirkpatrick, of Aurora, IL; many nieces and nephews and a host of friends.

Memorials may be given in his name.

Visitation will be Monday, December 29, 2014 from 1:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Carpenter Breland Funeral Home. The family will be present from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. to greet friends.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, December 30, 2014, 10:00 a.m. at Carpenter Breland Funeral Home with Johnny Walker officiating. Cremation will follow the service. A private family inurnment will be at a later date.
