Biography

Harold Gene Karr, of Indianola, died Monday, November 20, 2006, at Community Hospital. He was 59 years old.

Harold was born on February 18, 1947, to David Randolph and Dorothy Aline (McCollum) Karr in Texarkana, Arkansas. He graduated from High School and attended college for some time.

On April 7, 1965, he entered the US Army and served during the Vietnam War, Desert Storm, and Desert Shield. He was honorably discharged on February 14, 1992.
He married Loretta Black in 1968.

On September 21, 1989 he married Duana Yvonne Thomas at Phoenix, AZ. They made their home in Indianola. Harold was a musician playing in various bands throughout his lifetime. He enjoyed rock, country, bluegrass, and singing karaoke.

Harold was a member of the Indianola American Legion.

Preceding him in death were his parents; one son, Jaime LeRoy Thomas; his brother, David Earl; his grandparents, several aunts, uncles and relatives.

Survivors include his wife, Duana Karr of Indianola; two sons, Harold Karr, Jr. and wife, Kelly, of Colona, Il and David Thomas of Lawton, OK; three daughters, Kristine and husband, Bruce Lilly, of Ft. Polk, LA, Michele and husband, Raymond Hicks, of Savanna, OK, and Cindy and husband, Charlie Berry, of Banger, PA; mother-in-law, Donny Rowe of Cambridge; sister, Sharon and husband, Jerry Sutherland, of Sherman, TX; step-sister, Judy and husband, Richard Cornwell, of Phoenix, AZ; brother-in-law, Dennis Rowe of McCook; and grandchildren, Paul and Gary Dunscomb, Karri Hanson and Charlie Berry, Brittney, Kayla, Elizabeth, Fortin Reda and Harold Karr, III, Duana, Jamie, Ray and Jared Hicks, Leslie, Codie and Brooke Thomas and Julian Wienert.

Memorials were given in his name.

Funeral services were Friday, November 24, 10:30 a.m. at Carpenter Breland Chapel with Mike Brown assisting. Inurnment will be at a later time.

Carpenter Breland Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
