Harry J. Huston, age 86, died Thursday, December 25, 2008 at Hillcrest Nursing Home in McCook.
He was born, September 1, 1922 at Ragan, Nebraska to Jesse McKinley and Helen Christine (Abraham) Huston. He attended school at Chase County High School.
He lived at Enders from 1946-1988 and then moved to McCook. Harry worked on the construction of the Enders Dam. He owned and operated a mechanic shop at Enders and also worked for the Co-Op as a transport truck driver. He then, worked for Nebraska Games and Park Department as Superintendent at Enders Lake from 1970-1986. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and farming as a hobby.
On August 16, 1944 he married Annabel Walcott at St. Francis, Kansas. To this union three daughters were born, Sharon, Joletta and Jacqueline.
Preceding him in death were: his parents; brother, Gayle and wife Rose Huston; sister, June and husband Lloyd Rambow; and brother-in-law, Alfred "Kap" Kapperman.
Survivors include; his wife, Annabel of McCook; three daughters, Sharon and husband Lynn Youngquist of Beaver City and Joletta Hogsett of North Platte and Jacqueline & Keith Hogsett of Fort Scott, Kans.; sisters, Pearl Kapperman of Imperial and Helen Maddux of Wahoo; 11 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were Monday at 11 a.m. at Carpenter Breland Funeral Home in McCook with Jerry Beckenhauer officiating. Burial took place in Memorial Park Cemetery.
Memorials were to be given to Hillcrest Nursing Home Foundation.
Carpenter Breland Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
