Helen Louise Goodson

Helen Louise Goodson, age 92, passed away Thursday, March 22, 2012 at Madonna Rehabilitation Center in Lincoln.
Helen was born September 17, 1919 in Hayes County, to John and Alvina (Frank) Gaarder. She grew up on the family farm and graduated from Hayes Center High School in 1937. She taught rural schools for 6 years.
She married Elvin T. Goodson on April 17, 1943. They lived in Omaha for a year and spent 2 years in California while Elvin was in the service, later they lived in Carleton and Beaver City. They came to McCook in 1951 where they had Goodson Plumbing and Heating and Appliance Business for 31 years, retiring in 1982.
Helen was a member of Memorial United Methodist Church over 50 years and the United Methodist Women serving on local and district offices. She was also a member of the V.F.W. Auxiliary, High Plains Museum and the National Plumbing and Heating Auxiliary and served as State President in 1966-1967. She and her husband were members of the Good Sam Camping Club and they enjoyed traveling, camping, visiting family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Elvin on October 14, 2010; seven brothers-in-law; and two sisters-in-law.
She is survived by nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
