Homer J. "Whitey" Troxell, Jr. died at his home on Thursday, April 30, 2009. He was 79 years old.
He was born in McCook on July 26, 1929, one of six children born to Homer Ira and Myrtle Ellesta (Barnes) Troxell.
On April 28, 1952 he married Martha Jane Anderson in Wauneta, Nebraska.
In 1954, Whitey retired from the military and they made their home in McCook. He was employed at Joe's Sporting Goods and D&S Hardware for many years.
On February 12, 2005 he married June Morgan in Culbertson.
Whitey loved to fish with his family and friends.
Preceding him in death were his parents; his first wife Martha Jane; two brothers, Jack and Maurice; and three sisters, Virginia, Rita and Barbara.
Survivors include his wife, June of McCook; a sister, Edith Persinger of Oberlin, Kans.; step-children, Linda Blake and husband, Bob Boner, of Indianola, Wayne Emrich and wife Lisa of Trenton and Wray Emrich and wife Pat of South Carolina; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews; and his little dog "Buddy."
Memorials were to be given in his name.
Graveside memorial services were Friday, May 8th, 2:00 p.m. at Memorial Park Cemetery in McCook with Pastor Richard Karr & Terry McCorkle officiating.
Carpenter Breland Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
