Howard E. Hoffman passed away Wednesday, April 5, 2017 at El Dorado Manor in Trenton, NE. He was 94 years old.
Howard was born August 18, 1922 to Harry and Irene (Linkeletter) Hoffman in Salina, Kansas. He was one of three children. Howard attended school in Salina, KS.
Howard enlisted in the US Army on March 12, 1945. He proudly served his country before being honorably discharged on July 3, 1947.
On March 31, 1940, Howard married the love of his life, Lela B. Jellison, in Natoma, KS. To this union two children, Richard and Marcia, were born. The family made their home Salina in Kansas before moving to Denver, CO.
Together, Howard and Lela owned and operated restaurants for over 60 years before their retirement. In 2000, the retired couple moved to McCook. Howard enjoyed working as a greeter at Walmart. He also loved working in his garden, cooking and baking as well as doing crafts.
Howard is survived by his daughter, Marcia (Chuck) Dobson of Commerce City, CO; daughter in law, Cathy (Daryl) Snider of Maywood, NE; brother, Harry Hoffman of Salina, KS; sister, Betty Matthews of Salina, KS; and grandchildren Jody, Jeff, Joe, Jackie, Sean, Shannon, Kiok, Preston, Mike and Michele. Also surviving are numerous great grandchildren, great great grandchildren and one great great great grandchildren.
Howard was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Lela Hoffman in 2007; son, Richard Hoffman; and grandson, Scott Hoffman.
Graveside Inurnment with Military Honors will be held at Fort Logan National Cemetery in Denver, Colorado on Monday, May 15, 2017 beginning at 2 PM (MST).
Memorial contributions may be designated to the McCook Humane Society.
