Howard Schneider

Howard Schneider, age 78, died Sunday, April 13, 2008 with his family by his side.

He was born October 17, 1929 in Hayes County, Nebraska to Peter T. and Mary (Giespert) Schneider. He attended Hayes County schools. He served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict.

He married Irene M. Bauer on December 4, 1953 in McCook. To this union three children were born.

He worked for Goodson Plumbing and Volz, Inc. for a total of 42 years. He enjoyed his family, grandchildren and granddogs. He spent time fishing, hunting, reading western books, and attending McCook Bison football games and stock car races.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Victor, two brothers-in-law, Lawrence Weskamp and Daniel Dolan.

He is survived by his wife, Irene of McCook; son, Scott Schneider and wife, Audrey of North Platte; two daughters, Lynda Jollensten and husband, Barry of Ogallala, Deb Stoney and husband, Larry of Herndon, Kansas; two sisters, Delyla Weskamp of McCook, Opal Dolan of Indianola; nine grandchildren, Jared Jollensten and fiancé© Lindsey Struckman, Trent Jollensten, Michelle Prewo and husband Paul, Aaron Stoney and wife, Shawna, Keith Stoney and wife, Bethany, Nathan Stoney, Kaelea Stoney, Cheri Schneider, Jana Schneider; and four great-grandchildren.

Memorials were to be given in his name.

Funeral services were Thursday, April 17, 2008, 11:00 a.m. at Carpenter Breland Funeral Chapel with Jerry Beckenhauer officiating. Burial took place in Memorial Park Cemetery with military honors.

Carpenter Breland Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
