Irene K Felker

Irene K. Felker, of Culbertson, NE, passed away on December 17, 2024, at the Community Hospital in McCook, Nebraska, at the age of 75.

Irene was born on November 4, 1949, in McCook, NE to parents Wayne Walter and Charolette M. (Teply) Johnson. Irene grew up in southwest Nebraska with her brother Jake. In her early years, Irene enjoyed softball.

Irene graduated from Hayes Center High School with the class of 1968. In her professional life, Irene worked as a clerk for Hayes County for 25 years and then Hitchcock County for 25 years.

 She met and fell in love with Tom Felker at a New Year’s Eve party and has been together with him for over 40 years.

Irene would rather have been outside doing her many hobbies than being cooped up inside. She enjoyed working in her flower garden, and she has even stated “Why pay money on flowers when I can raise them myself.” In her hunting and fishing adventures, Irene has bagged many brag-worthy deer and fish throughout her life. She loved caring for her family, friends, and especially her cats.

Irene will be remembered for her caring heart and willingness to help anyone in need.

Irene is proceeded in death by her parents and great grandson Tanner Alstrom.

Those life to celebrate Irene’s life is her husband Tom Felker of Culbertson, NE; sons, Shannon (Theresa) Gerih of McCook, NE, and Kevin Gerih of Culbertson, NE; brother, Jake (Diane) Johnson of Lincoln, NE; 5 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild; and numerous friends and extended family members.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested in Irene's name to the Culbertson Rescue, PO Box 421, Culbertson, NE 69024.

There will be a celebration of life open to all of Irene’s friends and family on Saturday, January 18, 2025 from 2 to 5 p.m. at the Culbertson Ambulance Barn, 307 Tate Ave, Culbertson, NE 69024.
