Biography

Irene K. Gibson died Friday April 9, 2010 at Community Hospital in McCook. She was 91 years old.

On November 30, 1918, Irene was born in Lawrence, Nebraska to Joseph and Mary Magdelena (Grabber) Heilers. They moved to Stratton in 1919, where she grew up and attended school.

She graduated from McCook Junior College and was a dietician at McCook Public Schools.

She was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church.

Preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ray in August of 1983; daughter, Anita Kristen; seven brothers and sisters, Nora Raymond, Augusta Anderjeski, Leonard Heilers, Leona Haller, Henry "Hank" Heilers, Aloys "Fat" Heilers, and Rose Farschon.

Survivors include: son, Clifford Gibson and wife Cathie of Buckeye, AZ; two daughters, Sharon Dicke and husband Dean of Sumerset, KY, and Kathy Fringer of Scottsbluff; 10 grandchildren, and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and very special friend William Gerloff.

Memorials were to be given in her name.

Rosary took place Tuesday at 7 p.m. at Carpenter Breland Funeral Home in McCook. Mass of Christian Burial was on Wednesday, 11 a.m. at St. Patrick's Catholic Church with Father Gary Brethour officiating, with burial in Calvary Cemetery.

Carpenter Breland Funeral Home of McCook was in charge of the arrangements.
