Iva Mae McNutt, of McCook, died Thursday, June 15, 2006 at Hillcrest Nursing Home. She was 98 years old.
Iva was born on August 30, 1907 at Basehor, Kansas to Thomas E. and Ellen (Morash) Tirrill. She alone with her family moved to the McCook community when she was a small child. She attended rural school south of McCook.
On June 8, 1925, she married Charles Sherman McNutt. To this union four children were born. They made their home on a farm near Hayes Center and later moved to a farm near McCook. Iva was a busy homemaker and also worked for Burns Lab for many years. She lived by herself until the age of 95 when she moved to Hillcrest. She enjoyed gardening, both vegetables and flowers, and spending time with her many grandchildren.
Iva was a member of First Baptist Church and the American Baptist Women. She was active in the church choir and Sunday school.
Preceding her in death were her parents, Thomas and Ellen Tirrill; and one sister, Dorothy Lunkwitz.
Survivors include her two sons, Dale McNutt and Larry McNutt both of McCook; two daughters, Lorene and husband, Henry Kordenbrock, of McCook and Ardis and husband, Joe Moreau, of Ephrada, WA; one brother, Lester Tirrill of McCook; two sisters, Elizabeth Edwards and Maudie Oberg both of McCook; 7 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and 20 great-great-grandchildren.
Memorials were to be given in her name to the First Baptist Church or Hillcrest Nursing Home.
Funeral services were Tuesday, June 20, 2006, 2:00 p.m. at Carpenter Breland Chapel with Rev. Stan Upchurch and Rev. James Denny officiating. Burial took place in Memorial Park Cemetery.
Carpenter Breland Funeral Home of McCook was in charge of the arrangements.
