Ivan "Dale" Dockery

Ivan "Dale" Dockery of Hayes Center passed away on Monday, December 6, 2010 at the VA Pittsburg Health Care System in Pittsburg, Pennsylvania. He was 61 years old.

Dale was born on October 3, 1949, in Covington, Oklahoma to James and Omeree (Lancaster) Dockery. At the passing of his mother, Dale was raised by his grandmother, Hildred Perrin. He received his education at Covington Schools. On August 16, 1968, he entered the US Army at Enid, Oklahoma and served during the Vietnam War. He was honorably discharged on January 3, 1971 and reenlisted until January 10, 1975 when he was honorably discharged and was the recipient of two purple hearts.

Dale was united in marriage to Cathy Ann Stanley at Yadkinville, North Carolina on December 19, 1981. They made their home in several locations before settling in the Hayes Center community where he drove cross-country truck for GMT Transport.

He was a member of North American Hunting and Fishing Clubs. He loved hunting, fishing, watching western movies, and riding horses. His grandchildren were his ultimate pride and joy.

Survivors include his wife, Cathy Dockery of Hayes Center; sons, Steven Dockery and Bryan Dockery and wife, Yolanda, all of Imperial; daughters, Susan and husband, Mike Redmond, of King, NC, Melanie and husband, James Lewis, of Statesville, NC, Dawn and husband, Bruce Hagan, Jr., of Culbertson, Shannon Dockery and Kayla Dockery both of North Platte; 18 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be given in his name.

Funeral services will be Friday, December 10, 2010, 2:00 p.m. at Carpenter Breland Chapel in McCook with the Hayes Center Veteran's Honor Guard presenting the flag. The Rev. James Lewis will be officiating. Cremation will follow the service and a private family inurnment will be held at a later time.
