James B. Ahrens died Wednesday, October 25, 2006, at Community Hospital in McCook. He was 72 years old.
Jim was born on March 12, 1934, at McCook to Frances Henry and Minnie T. (Herron) Ahrens. He attended McCook Schools.
On January 9, 1954, he married Delores F. Fisher at Goodland, Kansas. To this union two children were born. They made their home in McCook where Jim was a carpenter and worked for the North Platte Lumber Company. After his retirement, he worked for the McCook School’s Lunch Program delivering meals to the various school buildings.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Frances and Minnie Ahrens; his wife, Delores Ahrens in 1998; son, DustyLee Ahrens; and one brother, Albert H. Ahrens.
Survivors include his two children, Jim Ahrens and wife, Linda, of North Platte and DeEtte and husband, Joseph Wilson, of Harrison , AK; one sister, Jackie Ahrens of McCook; three grandsons, one step-granddaughter, five great-grandsons; and special friend, Sharon Daugherty.
Memorials may be given in his name.
Funeral services were on Monday, October 30, 2006, 10:00 a.m. at Carpenter Breland Funeral Home with Terry McCorkle officiating. Burial was in Memorial Park Cemetery.
Carpenter Breland Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
