James Elmer Holthaus, age 70, passed away Saturday, March 8, 2014 at Community Hospital of McCook.
James was born in McCook on March 18, 1943 to Elmer and Helen (Johnson) Holthaus. He graduated from McCook High School in 1961.
James was a member of the NRA and The Heritage Foundation. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening. He served as a school board member for several terms on the Marion School Board.
Survivors include his son, Timothy (Jenn) Holthaus; daughter, Tammy (Jason Chestnut) Holthaus all of McCook; sister, Ruth Ann (Don) Ruby of Tahlequah, OK; niece, Stephanie (Bryan) Johnson and family of Broken Arrow, OK; nephew, Doug (Beth) Ruby and family of Piedmont, OK; and granddaughter, Kelsey Holthaus of Kearney, NE.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and one sister, Mary Ellen.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, March 11, 2014 at Carpenter-Breland Funeral Home in McCook from 1 to 8 p.m.
Graveside services are 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 12, 2014 at the Danbury Marion Cemetery in Danbury with Jerry Beckenhauer officiating.
