James "Jim" Edward Baxter, age 58, passed away Wednesday, April 27, 2016 in Trenton.
On February 27, 1958 James was born in McCook to Richard L. and Leona E. (Potthoff) Baxter. He graduated from Palisade in 1976, during high school he played football and considered going on to play football in college for Kansas State. Jim attended Southeast Community College at Milford, Nebraska for auto body in 1981-82. Jim was a master stonemason working on numerous projects in the area.
He spent time hunting, fishing, gardening and working on his cars. He loved music and had a large collection of albums.
Survivors include his two sons, Evan Baxter of Cheyenne, WY and Travis Baxter of Denver, CO; mother, Leona Baxter of Palisade; two brothers, Richard Alan Baxter and Gary Baxter both of Palisade, NE; two sisters, Linda (David) Buck of Aurora, CO and Beverly (Mike) Green of McCook, NE; grandchildren, Haven and Sylas Baxter. Also surviving are several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his father March 19, 2008.
Memorial services will be Thursday, May 5, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. at Carpenter-Breland Funeral Home in McCook, NE. Inurnment will follow in the Palisade Cemetery.
Memorials may be given in his name.
