James "Jim" J. Palic, 72, passed away Sunday, May 13, 2012, at the Ashland Care Center in Ashland, Nebraska.
Jim was born to Fred and Fern (Kolbet) Palic on Aug. 6, 1939, in Hayes County, Nebraska. He was the fourth of seven children. He graduated from Hayes Center High School and went into farming and also worked for BNSF railroad as an engineer.
When Jim retired from the railroad after 32 years of service, he took up the hobby of working on old cars for friends and family - he liked to disassemble and put things back together, and try and diagnose problems from sound alone. Even though he no longer farmed, he loved to go to the fields during the harvest and watch the big machinery. His heart never left the farm.
