Jean Case

Jean Case, age 89, died Thursday May 17, 2012 at the Hillcrest Nursing Home in McCook, Nebraska.

She was born April 25, 1923 in Philadelphia, PA to John Henry and Barbara Annie (Robertson) Prosser. As a young child her family moved and settled on a ranch northeast of Leoti, Kansas. She spent her childhood in Leoti graduating in 1941.

She married Joseph Ed “Joe” Case on Feb. 22, 1945 at Atwood, Kansas and in 1946 settled west of Culbertson where they spent their married life farming.

Joe passed away on March 21, 1968 leaving Jean to raise the five children on the family farm. After Joe’s death Jean began working outside of the home including El Dorado Nursing Home, TRW, and Dayco.

Her hobbies included crossword puzzles, solitaire, embroidery, card games, and piecing quilts by hand.

Jean was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church and Culbertson VFW.
Preceding her in death were her parents, John and Annie Prosser; husband, Joe Case; sons, Edd and John Case, sister, Elizabeth Kirk; and great- grandson, Daniel Allen.

She is survived by her daughters Mary and husband, Larry White of Riverton, Wyoming and Mag and husband, Butch Cole of McCook; son, Jeff Case of Culbertson; sister, Margaret Green of Leoti, Kansas; 8 grandchildren, 4 step- grandchildren and 35 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be given to the donor’s choice.
Visitation will be Sunday, May 20, 2012, 4-8:00 p.m. with family greeting friends from 6-8:00 p.m. at Carpenter Breland Funeral Home in McCook. Friends may go online at www.carpenterbreland.com to extend condolences to the family.

Funeral services will be Monday, May 21, 2012, 10:00 a.m., at the Trinity United Methodist Church in Culbertson, NE with the Rev. Lance Clay and Rev. Corey Jenkins officiating. Burial will be in the Culbertson Cemetery.

Carpenter Breland Funeral Home of McCook, Nebraska is in charge of the arrangements.
