Jesse Ray Korell, lifetime resident of rural Hayes Center, passed away Sunday, January 16, 2011 as a result of a farming accident. He was 27 years old.
Jesse was born October 1, 1983 at Grant, Nebraska to Kenneth E. and Christie L. (Rutherford) Korell. He graduated from Hayes Center High School with the class of 2002, earning all-state defense end in football.
Jesse was employed at Hayes County Coop and was an instrumental part of the family farm and ranch. He raised and operated his own cattle herd.
He was a member of the Hayes Center Volunteer Fire and Rescue. He enjoyed hunting and spending time with family and friends in his free time.
Preceding him in death was his paternal grandfather, Robert "Bob" Korell in 2007.
Survivors include his parents, Kenny and Christie Korell of Hayes Center; brother, Kevin Korell of Hayes Center; sister, Brooke and husband, Ryan Amateis, of Broadwater; niece, Kambrey Lynn Amateis of Broadwater; maternal grandparents, Raymond and Jimmie Rutherford of Hayes Center; paternal grandmother, Neva Jane Korell of Culbertson; numerous, aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family and a host of friends.
Memorials may be given in his name to the Hayes Center Volunteer Fire Department.
Visitation will be Wednesday 1-8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Friends may go online at www.carpenterbreland.com to extend condolences to the family.
Funeral services will be Thursday, January 20, 2011, 10:00 a.m. at the Hayes Center Gymnasium with Pastor Jean Miller officiating. Burial will follow in the Culbertson Cemetery.
