Biography





Jessie O. Greene passed away Friday, September 17, 2004 at the Cheyenne Health Care Nursing Home in Cheyenne, WY after being a life-long resident of McCook.

She was born May 28, 1914, to Ernest and Iva (Smith) Markwad. She graduated from McCook High School and McCook Junior College. On June 11, 1935, she married Robert Earl Greene. To this union three children were born.

Jessie's career consisted of being a school teacher at District #8, and an employee of Red Willow County and McCook National Bank. She was also a homemaker, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a member of the Hospital Auxiliary, Federated Women's Club and Memorial United Methodist Church.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Robert; one brother, Darwin Markwad and sister, Cleo Wendt.

She is survived by her son, Bob and his wife, Donna, of Centennial, CO and grandson, Douglas and great-grandsons Jackson and Connor, grandson, Randall and his wife, Melissa, and three great-grandchildren, Daniel, Emily and Justin; her daughter, Cherryl Thill of Centennial and granddaughter Ann Pullen and husband, Walt, and great-grandson Michael, granddaughter, Sue Gallegos and husband, Rod, and two great-grandchildren, Nicholas and Kathryn and grandson William Thill; and son, William and his wife, Donna, of Cheyenne and three grandchildren, Christopher and Andrea, Melissa, Jeremy and wife, Sarah.

Memorials were to be given in her name to the Community Hospital Auxiliary.

Funeral services were Thursday, Sept. 23, 2004, 10:00 a.m., at Memorial United Methodist Church with the Rev. Dr. Jeff Thurman officiating. Burial took place in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Carpenter Breland Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
