Joan Mary McCarville of McCook died Thursday, May 15, 2008 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney. She was 71 years old.
Joan was born on August 23, 1936 in Springfield, Massachusetts to Richard Samuel and Sophie Agatha (Gorecki) Trotter. She graduated from Enfield High School, Enfield, Connecticut in 1956.
Joan moved to the McCook community in 1963. She continued her education at McCook Community College and graduated with an Associates of Arts Degree. She worked for Sehnert's Bakery and the Agency of Aging and Social Services. She was also owner and operator of JoAn's Ceramic's for 20 years. In her free time, she enjoyed making ceramics, gardening and spending time with her grandchildren.
Preceding her in death were her parents, Richard and Sophie Trotter; and one granddaughter, Kimberly Joan McCarville; and one brother, Richard Trotter.
Survivors include her son, James McCarville and wife, Janet, of Indianola; two daughters, Barbara and husband Tom Woracek of Maxwell and Kathleen Steadman, of Kansas; one brother, Robert Trotter and wife, Susan, of Enfield, Conn.; two sisters, Nancy and husband, Joseph Spiriti, of Chester, Mass. and Janet and husband, Charles Sutton, of West Suffield, Conn.; ten grandchildren, Cynthia Schmitz and Kaitlyn Steadman, Daniel, Samantha, David and Mary McCarville, and Trista and husband Justin Borg, Seth and Shayla Woracek; and two great-granddaughters, Alexus Schmitz and Hailey Farr.
Memorials were to be given in her name.
Funeral services were Tuesday, May 20, 2008, 10:30 a.m., at Carpenter Breland Chapel with Jerry Beckenhauer officiating. Burial took place in Memorial Park Cemetery.
Carpenter Breland Funeral Home of McCook was in charge of the arrangements.
