John Eugene Bruner, age 88, of McCook, NE passed away at his home with family by his side on Wednesday, September 7, 2022.
John was born March 19, 1934 in Holyoke, CO to parents Forest E. and Aletha L. (Daniels) Bruner. He was one of six brothers.
John entered active duty with the US Army on November 23, 1955 and proudly served his country until he was honorably discharged on October 1st, 1957. On November 21, 1965, John married Ginger May (Persinger) Bruner in Ogallala, NE. The couple became parents to four children and one stepson. Making their home in McCook, John worked at TRW before beginning a lifelong career in the trucking industry. He went on to own and operate J & G Trucking for over thirty years. At retirement, John had driven 1.5 million miles accident free. When he wasn’t behind the wheel of a truck, John enjoyed collecting oil lamps and spending time in his garage, working on small engines and cars. He was a fifty year member of the McCook Eagles Club.
John was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Donnie, Raymond and Gene Bruner; son in laws, Rick Miner and Allen Hansen; and a sister in law, Connie Bruner.
Those left to celebrate his life include his wife, Ginger Bruner of McCook; sons, Craig (Kristi) Bruner of Show Low, AZ and John (Abbey) Bruner, Jr. of Sioux Falls, SD; daughters, Sherry Hansen of Osborne, KS, Lucille Light and friend, Mike Light of McCook and Ruth Miner of McCook; brothers, Robert Bruner of Emmett, ID and Floyd (Ellie) Bruner of Great Falls, MT; nine grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren and a host of extended family member and friends.
