John Joseph Colling, formerly of rural McCook died Wednesday, December 7, 2005 at El Dorado Manor in Trenton. He was 76 years old.
John was born on April 9, 1929, at McCook to Bernard N. and Helen (Kennedy) Colling. He attended school through the eighth grade. He entered the U.S. Navy in 1951 and served during the Korean Conflict. He was honorably discharged in 1954.
John returned the McCook community where he farmed and raised cattle. He had been residing at El Dorado Manor since May 2004.
He was a member of St. Patricks Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus.
He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Harlan, Jerald, Frank, and Gene; sister, Helen; three brothers in law Anton Blume, Raymond Ritter and Fred Martin; and sister-in-law Rosemary Colling.
Survivors include his brothers, George Colling of Cambridge, Richard Colling and wife Alfreda, Joseph and wife Eileen Colling all of McCook; sisters Catherine Blume of McCook, Bernadine Ritter of Russell, Kansas; and sisters-in-law, Mary Colling of McCook and Dorothy Colling of Omaha.
Memorials may be given in his name.
Rosary took place Sunday, December 11, 2005, at Carpenter Breland Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial was Monday, December 12, 2005, 10:30 a.m. at St. Patricks Catholic Church with Father Gary Brethour and Father Paul Colling officiating. Burial in Calvary Cemetery.
Carpenter Breland Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
