John P. Wallace Jr

John P. Wallace, Jr., age, 75, died Thursday, May 20, 2010 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney.

He was born December 24, 1934 to John P. and Lillie M. (Clark) Wallace, Sr. in McCook.

He enlisted in the U.S. Army on April 21, 1953. He earned the Good Conduct Medal, the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal and the National Defense Service Medal. He was honorably discharged on April 20, 1956.

He married Pauline Delores Leiter in McCook on December 31, 1960.

He later married Loretta June Leiter in Stapleton on September 30, 1989.

He was baptized in June of 2004 at the Gandy, NE Berean Church.

He worked 32 years at Stevens Bottling Company. He enjoyed camping, fishing, playing and calling Bingo, spending time at casinos, reading his Bible, operating concession stands at the ball fields, and he loved his dogs, Sam and Luvs.

He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Pauline in 1980 and second wife, Loretta in 2004; brothers, Tom Wallace, Alfred Wallace, and Gary Wallace; sisters, Helen Shepherd, Dorothy Minary, and Edna Judd.

He is survived by his sons, J. P. Wallace and wife, Deb, and Darren Wallace all of McCook; brother, Richard Wallace and wife, Mary Lou, of Lyons, CO; brothers-in-law, Wilbur Allen of Stapleton and Lee Leiter of Louisiana; sister-in-law, Carolyn Wallace of Omaha; eight grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorials were to be given in his name.

Funeral services were Wednesday, May 26, 2010 at Carpenter Breland Funeral Home at 10:00 a.m. with Jerry Beckenhauer officiating. Burial took place in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Carpenter Breland Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
