John "Jack" F. Jones, 84, died Tuesday (Jan. 27, 2004) at Hillcrest Nursing Home in McCook.
He was born March 1, 1919, to Bryce Quayle and Blanche Frances (Bowen) Jones in McCook. He graduated from McCook High School in 1938. He attended McCook Junior College and graduated in 1940.
On Sept. 22, 1940, he married Ruthella Theda Carter in McCook. He managed Bison Drive Inn Theatre and was owner of Jones Insurance Agency.
He was a 75 year member of the First Congregational Church. He was also a member of the McCook Blue Lodge No. 135 with a 60 year membership award. He was a recipient of the Jordan Medal Holder of the McCook Lodge. He was also a member of All Rite York Bodies at McCook, St. John Commandery No. 16, the Eureka Chapter No. 86 Order of the Eastern Star of McCook and the Tehama Temple Mystic Nobles of the Shrine of Hastings.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two grandchildren, Franklin Marts and Rhonda Jones.
Survivors include his wife, Ruthella Jones of McCook; his children, Leanna Smidt of Greeley, Colo., Theda Beth and husband, Dale Stanley of Wilsonville, Ronald Jones of Golden, Colo., Paula and husband, John McArthur of McCook and Robin and husband, Jerry Wonderly of Bartley; 17 grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; four step-great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Services were Saturday, 11 a.m., at First Congregational Church with Dr. Mark Taylor officiating. Interment took place in Memorial Park Cemetery.
Memorials were to be given in his name.
Carpenter Breland Funeral Home of McCook was in charge of the arrangements.
